Divers Paradise

Neil decided to escape the cold of Michigan for New Year's and ended up down at Small Hope. A dive instructor who used to ake his living in the industry, Neil knows his diving. He had a great time on the wall, diving with sharks and taking advantage of all the diversity that Small Hope has to offer with Bahamas diving!

Solo Beach Cruising

Recent guest, Michael from Spain, knows how to relax. He took two weeks at Small Hope Bay Lodge and spent his days sleeping in, sunning on the beach, snorkeling the Andros Barrier reef and biking all over the island.

Michael left here refreshed, rejuvenated, recharged and with plans of returning! Pin It Now!

Green Island Living

Small Hope Bay Lodge does it's best to provide a relaxing and enjoyable haven for vacationers while having as little impact as possible on the surrounding environment. In addition to being eco-friendly at the Lodge, SHBL is active in its support of the Andros National Conservancy And Trust (ANCAT).

As a leader of eco-tourism in the Bahamas, Jeff Birch is called upon every now and again to share his knowledge with others. The International Field Station (FORFAR) research station will bring their classes of college students studying eco-tourism and adventure travel to Small Hope to talk to Mr. Birch and get his views on the world of eco-lodges and nature tourism.

Two such classes visited recently and were given a tour of our property, including stops at our recycling center and nursery. Pin It Now!

Ambassador of Relaxation

Small Hope Bay Lodge had the pleasure of hosting the Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN for the UK this past month. Philip Parham and his wife, Ana, made a brief stopover for a little relaxation and recharging of their batteries.

Here is what Ambassador Parham had to say about Small Hope:

"Just two days on the pine-fringed beach of Small Hope Bay -- all too short but with many highlights; snoozing under the warm sun on the double hammock at the end of the dock, with clear blue ocean lapping beneath us; cycling one day to Fresh Creek town and the Androsia factory and the next day to Love Hill Beach, where we walked along mile after mile of beach under bright sun but cooled by the breeze; lunch-time pina coladas at the beach bar; the warmth of the fire and conversation in the evening; the peace and lack of pretension." Divers Keep Coming Back

Prime and Jackie hadn't been back to Small Hope Bay Lodge since 2001 but when they walked through the doors and kicked off their shoes, it was like nothing had ever changed. The couple started diving right away and catching up with the staff and family at meals. Leaving the cold weather and snow behind wasn't a hardship for the two business owners to let the world go and just focus on the beauty that is Small Hope and Andros Island! Pin It Now!

Private Pilot Paradise

Since Andros is just a hop, skip and a jump away from the USA, it is a private pilot's dream. Randy Groom flies his private plane into the Fresh Creek airport (MYAF) sometimes with his dive buddies and sometimes with his daughter, Rebecca. This trip he came down with Rebecca for a father daughter diving trip on the Andros Barrier Reef.

From help filing your flight plan to discounts for private pilots, Small Hope Bay Lodge offers lots of reasons for fly-boys and girls to get into the air and down to some relaxation Bahamas-style.

High Flying Travelers

Jeff and Sandra not only brought their bubbly personalities to Small Hope, they brought their romantic tradition.

Early in their relationship, Jeff bought Sandra a travel kite. It is their tradition now to fly their kite at whatever vacation spot they are at and then document the flight on the kite. Small Hope is honored to have a spot on Jeff and Sandra's kite! Pin It Now!

Fun as a Family

George, Marilyn and daughter, Jen spent their time at Small Hope Bay Lodge relaxing, reading and catching up. Jen learned how to dive and after a couple of white knuckle adventures with Divemaster Loren, she is practically a fish!

The staff enjoyed hanging out with this family so much that when Divemasters Loren and Amanda made a jaunt to Nassau on their day off, they met up with the family to have breakfast. We all can't wait to see them again! Pin It Now!
